How are employers advancing female tech talent to close the gender gap?
Lorien’s Women in Tech Insights 2024 research sheds light on how companies are supporting and advancing women in the tech industry in an effort to remove longstanding barriers that have held them back.
Encouragingly, nearly 80% of the women surveyed rate their companies as “good” or “excellent” in fostering an inclusive environment. Many report feeling valued and included in their workplace, a positive indicator of progress towards gender parity.
While women in tech are finding opportunities to grow and advance, especially at the leadership level—70% report being represented by leadership teams—there remain significant challenges at the entry level. More than half of the women surveyed shared they were discouraged from pursuing a career in tech, citing gender bias and pay disparity as major barriers to early career entry. This underscores the need for companies to not only focus on career advancement but also address the root causes that deter women from entering the tech industry in the first place.
