Engineering Technologist IV
General Work Description:
Develops and updates SPCC plans for Transmission Substations in Carolinas West region.
Uses AutoCAD Civil 3D to create and update SPCC and Site Development drawings.
Field visits to electrical substations to conduct site inspections and validate equipment, SPCC measures, and other as-built conditions.
Provide recurring status updates to supervision and sealing engineers on
Depending on experience and PE licensure: Review, sign, and seal SPCC plans for Transmission Substations.
Experience Notes:
Advanced to expert level experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D for Site Development design and drafting. Expectation is that the candidate has been actively using the software for recent projects (i.e. last 6-12 months).
Experience using Hydraflow Extensions (Storm Sewers, Hydrographs, Express) in AutoCAD Civil 3D
Experience completing hydrology calculations using modeling software or other methods (i.e., spreadsheets, hand calculations)
Experience using Autodesk suite of tools, specifically Autodesk Vault for drawing library management.
Ability to manage and balance multiple projects at one time.
Familiarity with EPA SPCC requirements
Experience reviewing and updating SPCC plans
Utility experience, preferably Transmission and/or Distribution work.
PE license in NC and SC
Experience reviewing work by external consultants to ensure compliance with internal standards/specs.
Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of routine problems in area of expertise.
Assists in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities under the guidance of higher-level employees.
Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches associated with the resolution of routine technical problems.
Conducts basic engineering studies requiring little evaluation or ingenuity.
Possesses knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures.
Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.
Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
They effectively apply fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is fairly complex and varied. - 10 years discipline experience
