Developer - Team Lead

Developer / Tech Lead (Java / AWS)

6 Month Contract | Outside IR35 | Hybrid (Glasgow) | Up to £550 per day

We're working with a key public sector client looking to bring in an experienced Developer / Tech Lead to support a critical modernisation programme.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll work within an established engineering team to deliver improvements to existing services, meet legislative requirements, and drive cost efficiencies.

The Role

• Provide technical leadership and direction within a delivery team
• Lead the development and modernisation of Java-based microservices
• Work closely with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions
• Support the delivery of public-facing digital services
• Mentor and coach junior developers, promoting best practice
• Contribute to an Agile delivery environment with a focus on engineering standards

Key Skills Required

• Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot (microservices architecture)
• Solid experience working with AWS cloud services
• Experience with TDD and unit testing frameworks
• Proven background operating at senior or tech lead level
• Experience working on complex delivery programmes (public sector experience desirable)
• Good working knowledge of JavaScript and modern development practices
• Strong mentoring and knowledge transfer skills
